RHC Realty - Corporate information
Mr Hugh Robertson started Robertson Realty Co. Ltd. in 1908. Over the years he brought in partners Hilliard and Cattell and formed Robertson, Hilliard, Cattell Real Estate and Insurance. As time passed the name was shortened to RHC Real Estate and Insurance. The company was purchased by Mr. A.K (Mac) McAdams and subsequently, in 1972, by Mr. G.T. (Bud) Darough.
The original location was in the 400 Block of Ward Street (in both the Madden Block and Griffen Block) but after a series of office upgrades RHC Real Estate and Insurance relocated the firm to its present location at 601 Baker Street, (the former premises of the Imperial Bank of Canada - which was later to become the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce).
The firm was purchased in 1994 and is now managed by Glen Darough. In 1996 Robertson Hilliard Cattell Realty Company Limited acquired the RE/MAX franchise and the name changed to RE/MAX RHC Realty. Also in 1996 the Insurance division was merged with McDonald Insurance, also of Nelson, forming RHC McDonald Insurance Brokers Ltd., which is now known as RHC Insurance Brokers Ltd.

Community Involvement
A quality that real estate professionals share is community involvement. RE/MAX Associates in particular are mindful of the impact they make not just in real estate but as caring citizens. Over the years, our Associates have distinguished themselves as stewards for the betterment of their communities, concerned not only with contribution to their communities but also with the outcome of the contribution. These qualities - known as RE/MAX Premier Community Citizenship - are a dynamic part of the RE/MAX organization.
RE/MAX RHC Realty is a front-runner in terms of giving back to the community, often devoting endless support to countless charities and local causes. RE/MAX RHC Realty has chosen to focus it's major fund raising efforts to the Children's Miracle Network.

RE/MAX sponsorship of the Children's Miracle Network and its affiliated hospitals is a prime example of RE/MAX community citizenship. RE/MAX RHC Realty is a “Miracle Office” meaning each and every year all of the Sales Associates are committed to this cause. One of CMN's largest corporate partners, the RE/MAX network in Canada has raised millions of dollars for the charity. All funds donated by RE/MAX RHC Realty Sales Associates go directly to BC Children's Hospital in Vancouver.
As well, RE/MAX of Western Canada engineered the Quest for Excellent Awards; this bursary program was established to recognize the success and on-going pursuits of Western Canadian students.RE/MAX presents 20 bursaries of $500 each.

Locally, in 2001, Anna Milner of L.V. Rogers Senior Secondary School in Nelson, was one of the recipients to win a $500 scholarship from RE/MAX for her award winning essay on the subject of Industrial Trades and Innovation. Most recently, Christina Musa, an LV Rogers Secondary School student in Nelson, was chosen from Western Canada to receive the RE/MAX 2012 Quest for Excellence bursary valued at $1000. It was a privilege to have students from Nelson win one these prestigious awards. We are proud of our cities' students and their many achievements!
RE/MAX is proud to recognize students, in the very communities in which we live and work, for their outstanding achievements. Education is the building block of our future and if the children we hear from every day are any indication, our future has never been brighter.
